The Atlanta Braves were originally established as the Boston Red Stockings in 1871. Over the years, the franchise underwent several name changes and relocations before finally settling as the Atlanta Braves in 1966, becoming the first MLB franchise in the southeastern United States.

The name "Braves" was adopted in 1912 to honor Native American heritage and has remained ever since. The Braves compete in Major League Baseball as a member of the National League East Division. They are one of only two remaining National League charter franchises that debuted in 1876, making them the oldest continuously operating professional sports franchise in North America.

Notably, the Braves are the only MLB franchise to have won the World Series in three different cities; Boston (1914), Milwaukee (1957), and Atlanta (1995). Throughout their history, the Braves have been home to legendary players such as Hank Aaron, Eddie Mathews, Kid Nichols, Warren Spahn, Chipper Jones, John Smoltz, Tom Glavine, and Greg Maddux. From 1991 to 2005, they set a remarkable record by winning 14 consecutive division titles, a testament to their dominance in that era.

In 2017, the Braves moved to Truist Park, located in the Cumberland neighborhood of Atlanta. The state-of-the-art stadium is part of a larger mixed-use development known as The Battery Atlanta, offering fans a comprehensive entertainment experience beyond baseball. With passionate support from their fans, the Braves continue to battle their fiercest rivals, including the New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, and Washington Nationals.
